Andreas Hoffmann (cultural manager)

Andreas Hoffmann (* 1971 in Norden ) is a German cultural manager and classical archaeologist. From 2007 to May 2019 he was managing director of the Bucerius Kunst Forum and program director art and culture for the music and monument projects of the Zeit Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius . Since June 2019 he has been the sole managing director of the Bucerius Kunst Forum. He was responsible for the expansion in 2008 as well as the new building of the exhibition house on Alten Wall, which opened in 2019. a. responsible for the interdisciplinary event programs.

Life

Hoffmann studied Classical Archeology, Latin Philology and Ancient History in Hamburg, Berlin and Heidelberg. In 2000 he received his dissertation on the subject of “Grave ritual and society. Pictorial themes and functions of Lower Italian red-figure ceramics from the necropolis of Taranto ”. From 2001 to 2004 he worked in the antique collection of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg - most recently as acting head of the collection and as project manager of the exhibitions "The Etruscans - Luxury for the Beyond" and "Gunter Sachs". Subsequently, Andreas Hoffmann was managing director of the Friends of the Art Gallery and managing director of the Federal Association of Friends of German Museums for Fine Arts. V. active. He has been the managing director of the Bucerius Kunst Forum since 2007 and was program director for art and culture at the ZEIT Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius until June 2019. Since June 2019 he has been the sole managing director of the Bucerius Kunst Forum, he was responsible for the expansion in 2008 as well as the new building of the exhibition house on Alten Wall, which opened in 2019. In addition, he was managing director of Kunstmeile Hamburg GbR in 2012 and 2013. Hoffmann has also been a lecturer since 2011 and honorary professor for museum, foundation and financial management in cultural institutions at the Institute for Culture and Media Management at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama since 2016 . His teaching areas include topics such as strategic development, finance, project and personnel management in cultural institutions, as well as law and ethics in the museum sector.

In addition to his professional activities, Andreas Hoffmann has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the Kunsthalle Emden since 2017 .

Andreas Hoffmann is married to the classical archaeologist Annette Haug .
