Andreas Mattfeldt (born September 28, 1969 in Verden ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 .

Origin and occupation

Mattfeldt was born the son of a German and a French and grew up in Langwedel with his mother.

After graduating from high school in 1989, Andreas Mattfeldt began vocational training as an industrial clerk at the Buss company in Ottersberg and worked almost without exception as a manager in the food industry until he moved into the German Bundestag . Andreas Mattfeldt has been a member of the CDU since 1990. He is the founder of the Junge Union Langwedel . From 1991 to 2001 he was parliamentary group leader of the CDU in Langwedel. From 2001 to 2009 he was the full-time mayor of Langwedel. In the mayoral election in 2006 he was re-elected with 65% for the period from 2006 to 2014. In 2009 Mattfeldt won the direct mandate for the election of the Bundestag for the CDU for the first time since the Federal Republic existed in what is now Bundestag constituency 34 and accepted it. According to the law, he then had to give up his mayor's office. Also in 2013 and 2017 Mattfeldt was confirmed in his office in the Osterholz - Verden constituency. Since 2011 he has also been a member of the Verden district council and a district committee member there.

Mattfeldt is a member of the budget and petitions committee in the German Bundestag. In the budget committee he is the main rapporteur for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Energy-Climate Fund and in the petitions committee chairman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. He is also a member of the European Union subcommittee of the Committee on Budgets and an alternate member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy.

Within the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Mattfeldt is the initiator and chiefly responsible for the “ Mattfeldt Group” , an association of Union MPs whose aim is to prevent laws that enable hydraulic fracturing in Germany.

Mattfeldt was one of the members of the grand coalition who voted against such a mandate in the vote on the granting of a negotiating mandate to the federal government to start negotiations for a third aid package in connection with the Greek sovereign debt crisis .

In November 2015 he criticized the federal government's asylum policy, in particular the uncontrolled access of people across the German borders, and complained in an interview that the CDU parliamentary group had tried to intimidate him.

Social Commitment

From 2005 to 2011 Andreas Mattfeldt was a member of the administrative board “Arbeit im Landkreis Verden”. From 2006 to 2013 he was a member of the advisory board of the Waldheim Foundation, an institution for people with intellectual disabilities. From 2001 to 2010 he was on the board of the Etelsen Castle Park Association. In addition, he is a member of the voluntary fire brigade, DLRG, rural youth, various sports clubs, rifle clubs, ferry club Hagen-Grinden / Ahsen-Oetzen, various cultural and school support associations and a founding member of the Langwedel tourism association. Mattfeldt is also the district chairman of the CDU's SME and Business Association (MIT) in the Verden district.
