Andreas Proft

Andreas Proft (* 14. May 1973 in Löbau , Saxony ) is a German sport climber , who by his commission style of Barefoot climbing more difficult routes, sometimes even free solo was known.

Life

He started climbing in 1995 in the Zittau Mountains . Here you can find paths up to the 11th Saxon level of difficulty . In 1998 Proft left Germany and traveled around the world. Since 2003 he has lived in a minibus with his wife and has been touring Europe. In 2005 he started climbing again, mostly climbing barefoot.

Since then, Proft has been able to walk barefoot on routes up to the French level of difficulty 8b , including on sight ascents up to difficulty 8a. He received particular attention for his free solo ascents, which he also performed barefoot, including the route The First and Last in the Sierra de Bernia on the Spanish Costa Blanca in November 2010 . With a level of difficulty of 8b, it was one of the most difficult free solo ascents ever.
