Andreas Rauscher (born January 25, 1978 in Graz ) is a former Austrian football player in the position of defender .

Career

Rauscher went through from the mini-boys to the classic child and youth training in the youth teams of the Grazer AK . In the amateur team of athletes under coach Werner Gregoritsch , he was then already the captain and leading player as a central midfielder. As a squad player, he made his Bundesliga debut under coach Klaus Augenthaler in the 1997/98 season .

In the summer of 1998 he moved to the second-class FC Kärnten , but he was unable to establish himself in the regular team there either. In 2000 he switched to FC Gratkorn in the Regionalliga Mitte. In 2004 he managed, meanwhile mainly as a defensive midfielder or central defender, with the Gratkornern promotion to the second highest Austrian league.

After eight years with Gratkorn, in 2008, after Kapfenberger SV's promotion to the Bundesliga, his former youth coach Gregoritsch brought him to the Upper Styrian team. He made his debut on July 13, 2008 in a 2-2 home draw against FK Austria Wien . During the 2008/09 season , Rauscher was only used in four league games for Kapfenberg, and played the full length of the match in only two games. He then retired for the rest of the season due to severe back pain and a broken cervical vertebra and only returned to the team at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . In addition, there was a broken foot in the previous season that he had suffered in a game.

By the end of October 2009 he made a total of eight league appearances before he injured himself again in the away game against SK Austria Kärnten and was replaced in the game by Thomas Schönberger . After a later investigation, it was announced on October 27, 2009 that Rauscher's inner ligament in his left knee was torn and he therefore had to retire from the game by the end of the year.
