Andreas Sieber

Andreas Sieber (* 1518 in Pegau ; † June 2, 1594 in Leipzig ) was a German politician and between 1584 and 1593 four times mayor of the city of Leipzig .

Career

Sieber was elected to the Leipzig City Council in 1576. In the same year he was appointed city judge. In 1584, 1587, 1590 and 1593 he was mayor of Leipzig. During his last term of office, the so-called Calvinist storm fell in May 1593 , during which an angry crowd attacked the houses of mostly foreign merchants who were considered to be supporters of Calvinism .
