Andreasmarkt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Andreasmarkt is one of the last traditional farmers' markets in Germany. In 1571 the right to hold the "old town of Linnich" was granted by Duke Wilhelm V of Jülich on St. Andrea's Day.

Nowadays it is held annually on the 1st Monday after St. Andrea's Day (usually the 1st Monday in December) in Linnich in the Rhineland . Since it is the last farmer's market in a wide area, which offers visitors a wide range of products on the streets and squares of the city center , the influx has continued unabated to this day. Everything is offered, from children's clothing to agricultural machinery. Many well-known tractor manufacturers are represented.

Other markets with the name Andreasmarkt take place in other cities such as Wiesbaden at this time of the year. However, these are either not annual traditional markets or they are even pure fair markets .
