Andrei Alexandrowitsch Saburow (Russian Андрей Александрович Сабуров, * 1837 - † March 10, 1916 in Petrograd ), Russian lawyer , curator of Dorpat University and Minister for Public Education of the Russian Empire (1880/81).

biography

Saburov belonged to an old boyar family . His younger brother was the important diplomat Pyotr Aleksandrovitsch Saburow (1835-1918), from 1880 to 1884 ambassador to Berlin.

After completing his higher education at the Alexander Lyceum, he worked for the Committee of Ministers from 1858, after which he moved to various offices and was a. a. Chamberlain, director of the detention committee of the prisons, senior secretary, deputy chairman of the District Court in St. Petersburg and finally State Councilor and State Secretary.

From 1875 to 1880 he was curator of the Dorpater teaching district . In 1876 he became an honorary member of the Estonian Scholarly Society .

From 1880 to 1881 he was the Russian Minister of Education. After his resignation, he received the rank of senator in 1881 and was a member of the State Council in 1899, where he was head of the 1st department from 1906 to 1916.

His wife (1868 - after 1928) was Countess Elizaveta Vladimirovna, who emigrated to France. Both had four children.
