Life

Andrej Grabrovec Gaberi was born in Maribor in 1959, where he graduated from high school and defended his thesis at the Technical University of Construction. As a project engineer, he worked with the project planning office of the Technical University of Maribor under the direction of Borut Pečenko and Vukašin Ačanski and designed plans and models for a “Forma Viva sculpture” in concrete. In 1986 the long-term cooperation with the art foundry and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb began. In 1990 he decided to work as a freelance artist, in his studio he devoted himself to the project of making large sculptures in clay and plaster. In 1993 he founded the civil initiative “Harpist Forum”. In 1993 he founded the Central European civil initiative Harpistisches Forum. Then in 200 he set up the public sculpture in front of Charles University in Prague and thus founded a new project of cooperation between old European universities under the name European University Bridges. Since 2001 he has been the editor of the publication »ga BERI« for the new conditions in the third millennium. He lives and works in Ljubljana, Maribor and Zagreb.

job

Gaberi conceives and designs macettes for sculptural compositions and develops problem solutions for her public realizations. In his work he combines art and geometry, engineering and the transcendent dimension. In studios in Maribor and Zagreb he designs large compositions in clay, plaster and wood, which he has cast in bronze in a Zagreb art foundry. The fundamental motive of his creative activity is the motive of women in the European public space, since women made a significant contribution to shaping European culture, and women were permeated by music as universal love. In his Maribor gallery he organizes roundtables, ceremonial meetings of the Harfistic Forum, exhibitions and concerts.
