Andrew Mawson, Baron Mawson OBE (born November 8, 1954 ) is a British clergyman of the United Reformed Church and politician who has been a Life Peer member of the House of Lords since 2007 .

Life

After attending school, Mawson completed a degree in theology at Victoria University of Manchester and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology . He became a clergyman of the United Reformed Church in 1984 and was subsequently founding president and head of administration of the Bromley-by-Bow Center in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets . He also served as administrator, director and most recently as president of the Community Action Network and founded Stanton Guildhouse in 1996. He was also the founder and director of the Water City Group and Andrew Mawson Partnerships. Because of his religious and social merits, he was honored with the Officer's Cross of the Order of the British Empire in 2000 .

Mawson was raised to the nobility by a letters patent dated March 29, 2007 as a life peer with the title Baron Mawson , of Bromley-by-Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets . Shortly thereafter took place on 30 April 2007 on its introduction ( Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords . In the upper house he belongs to the group of so-called crossbenchers .

Lord Mawson, who is also a member of the London Legacy Development Corporation, is also active as chairman of the non-partisan parliamentary group for urban regeneration, sport and culture.
