Andritzer mail forgery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Andritzer post fake one understands the falsification of two values of Austrian postage stamp issue of 1925 in Andritz (now a district of Graz ) to the detriment of the post .

history

The two values of 24 and 39 groschen of the Austrian postage stamp issue from 1925, the motif of which was a simple figure drawing, was forged by an unemployed industrial employee from Andritz. Postage stamps have so far not been provided with any protective measures. However, the unemployed person from Graz was married to a post office assistant; his wife was employed by the Andritz post office. She now brought the postage stamps forged by her husband into circulation. This happened between June 26 and October 4, 1933, which is evidenced by the postmarks of the post forgeries received.

The mail forgery today

Only 17 used copies of the Andritzer postal forgery worth 24 groschen are known today. Unused values have not yet become known, which suggests that all post forgeries have been completely used up. Of the values of 39 groschen, no pieces at all, neither canceled nor unused, have appeared so far. The existence of this value is known only through records.

The value of the stamped Andritzer post forgery at 24 groschen is around € 3000, although the price in the common stamp catalogs , such as the Michel catalog or the Austria Netto catalog (ANK), is set well below this. In the two catalogs it is only € 1000 and € 1250 respectively.
