Angela Theodora Billingham, Baroness Billingham , JP (born Case , born July 31, 1939 in Liverpool ) is a British politician ( Labor ).

Career

Billingham was a member of the Banbury Borough Council from 1970 to 1974 and of the Cherwell District Council from 1974 to 1984 , the latter as chair of the Labor group. In 1976 she was mayor of Banbury . From 1993 to 1994 she was a member of Oxfordshire County Council .

In 1992 she joined the Banbury constituency for the House of Commons , but was defeated. Billingham was a Member of the European Parliament for Northamptonshire and Blaby from 1994 to 1999 . She ran for re-election, but lost.

In 2000, as Baroness Billingham , of Banbury in the County of Oxfordshire, she was raised to Life Peeress and has been a member of the House of Lords ever since . Since 2002 she has been Deputy Chairwoman of the Sports Group , since 2006 for the Lighter Evenings Group and also since 2006 Chairwoman of the Tennis Group .

From 2004 to 2005 she was Vice Chair of the PLP Departmental Committee for Culture, Media and Sport .

She was married to Peter Billingham from 1962 until his death in 1992. This marriage resulted in two children.
