Angela Brown (* 1953 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American blues singer who lives in the USA. She is one of the most important blues singers living in Germany.

Life

Brown first sang in church, took acting lessons and worked as an actress for several years. In a musical she played the role of Bessie Smith and got into the blues that way.

In 1982 she became a member of the Erwin Helfer Band. In 1983 she came to Europe for the first time as a member of the Chicago All-Stars. She was on tour with Erwin Helfer and the International Blues Duo (Chris Rannenberg and "Detroit" Gary Wiggins ). In 1986 she was again on a successful tour with the Chicago Allstars.

At the beginning of the 1990s Angela Brown moved to Germany and has been an important singer on the European jazz and blues scene ever since, for example she performed at the Burghausen International Jazz Week . She worked with the pianists Christian Christl , Jan Luley and Christian Rannenberg .
