Christian Christl (born 7. December 1962 in Rudesheim ) is a German Blues - and Boogie Woogie -Pianist.

Career

Growing up in Munich and Freising , Christl attended the Camerloher high school in Freising , where he received piano lessons. He graduated from school in 1981 at the private business school Sabel in Munich with secondary school leaving certificate . He then completed vocational training as an advertising clerk and at the same time studied at the Bavarian Academy of Advertising, Munich, as an advertising specialist. After internships in various advertising agencies, he joined his father's advertising agency in Freising. There he was managing director from 1990 to 2000.

Music career

In 1983, a television show awakened his particular passion for the blues. He had his first appearance in 1985 at the Blues Festival in the Münchner Theaterfabrik (together with Memphis Slim , Little Willie Littlefield ). This was followed by permanent engagements in the Munich jazz club scene. Between 1989 and 1992 he was Angela Brown's musical accompanist . Records and CD recordings followed, among others with Willie Dixon . For the CD Acoustic Soul with Gary Wiggins he received the German Record Critics' Prize in 1994 .

He has played over 2,500 concerts worldwide, recorded 29 records and CDs, and performed with many well-known musicians such as Memphis Slim, Willie Dixon, Miles Davis , BB King and Ray Charles .

In 2008 he moved to the Ruhr area and worked as a duo with the singer Scarlett Andrews, played with the 4 pianists in large concert halls and philharmonic orchestras and made guest appearances with his band at numerous festivals. In 2013 he founded an internet community for fans of traditional jazz.

Christl plays around 70 concerts all over Europe every year. He has also been seen live in the USA and Australia. He has worked as musical director for numerous blues & boogie woogie events.

Christl worked on stage or in the recording studio with musicians such as Memphis Slim, Little Willie Littlefield, Erwin Helfer , Angela Brown, Karen Carroll, Stan Beherens, Louisiana Red , Carey Bell , Buddy Guy , Sydney Ellis, Mee Montgomery, Axel Zwingenberger , Vince Weber , Albert C. Humphrey, George Greene, Butch Kellem, Omar Kabir, Eddie Taylor , Rocky Knauer , Susanne Loeser, Charles Walker, Edwin Kimmler, Jan Luley or Frank Muschalle .

Bayoogie Club

In 2013 Christl founded an internet platform on which Boogie Woogie enthusiasts from all over the world can learn to play boogie piano after learning video streams. In the meantime, there are more than 500 different tutorial videos for beginners and advanced learners. Members from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Russia and all over Europe can use it to learn to play boogie at the piano at home.
