Angela Freimuth (born July 12, 1966 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

education and profession

Freimuth graduated from secondary school in 1982 and high school in 1985 at the Zeppelin-Gymnasium Lüdenscheid . In 1988 she finished her apprenticeship as a toolmaker . Then she began studying law at the University of Bonn , which she finished with her first exam in 1995. After legal clerkship and the 2nd state examination in 1998, Freimuth was admitted to the bar and works independently in the field of tax and insolvency law.

Political party

Freimuth has been a member of the FDP since 1987. Since 1994 she has been a member of the FDP state executive committee in North Rhine-Westphalia , since 2002 as deputy chairwoman. Freimuth was on the FDP federal board from 2003 to 2013. She has been chairwoman of the FDP district association Westphalia-West since 1998. From 2001 to May 2010 Freimuth was treasurer of the Bundesvereinigung Liberale Frauen eV. In 2004 she became chairwoman of the Vereinigung Liberaler Juristen NRW eV Freimuth is deputy chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Wolfgang Döring Foundation .

MPs

Angela Freimuth has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since June 2, 2000 . Since June 2017 she has been Vice President of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, chairwoman of the FDP parliamentary group in the main committee and FDP spokeswoman for science and research. Previously, she was Vice President of the State Parliament from June 8, 2005 to May 30, 2012 and Deputy Chairwoman of the FDP parliamentary group in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia from June 2012 to May 2017. From 2000 to July 2012 she was the spokesperson for budget and finance for the FDP parliamentary group, from 2005 to 2012 she was also the cultural policy spokesperson for the FDP parliamentary group and from 2005 to 2010 chairwoman of the executive committee of the legal committee. Angela Freimuth is chairwoman of the NRW-USA parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. Freimuth is a member of the Board of Trustees for the House of History in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Private

Angela Freimuth is married to Axel Hoffmann and has one son.
