Angelika Wesenberg

Angelika Wesenberg (born in Drebkau in 1950 ) is a German art historian .

Life

Angelika Wesenberg was born in Drebkau, Brandenburg, in 1950. After completing school, she studied art history , German and cultural studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and completed her studies with a doctorate . From 1974 onwards she worked as a research assistant at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin in Schloss Köpenick . In 1988 she moved to the East Berlin National Gallery . Here she experienced the German reunification and subsequently the merger of the Nationalgalerie's holdings from West and East Berlin. As custodian for 19th century painting, she was responsible for numerous exhibitions in the Alte Nationalgalerie and published texts on artists such as Arnold Böcklin and Max Liebermann , the Berlin Secession and the painters of French impressionism . In addition, he wrote about the history of the Nationalgalerie's collection. In 2015 she retired.
