Angkor Airways was a Cambodian airline based in Phnom Penh .
history
Angkor Airways was founded in 2004 with the support of the Taiwanese Far East Air Transport ("FAT") and began flight operations in the same year. The aim was to use Siem Reap Airport as a nearby transit station for flights between Taiwan and the People's Republic of China when direct flights were prohibited due to Taiwan's political status. The company also offered charter flights to South and East Asia. All aircraft were provided by FAT as wet leases.
In 2008 Angkor Airways had to cease flight operations due to financial difficulties of the parent company.
aims
From its base at Siem Reap-Angkor Airport , the airline offered domestic and continental scheduled flights; these lead to Taiwan and Japan, among others.
