Anja Mann , b. Mischke, formerly Tonat (born April 29, 1967 in West Berlin ) is a former German speed skater and Olympic participant .

Athletic career

She began her career at the age of eight when she learned to skate with the help of her father, Kurt Mischke , in Berlin - Wilmersdorf . At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , Anja Mischke was the only woman from West Berlin to represent the German colors and took 12th place over 3000 m and 16th place over 1500 m. Unfortunately, she was unable to repeat her good preliminary performances in World Cup races of the season (4th and 5th places over 3000m and 1500m) because she took a serious Achilles tendon injury with her to Calgary. Anja Mischke trained with the national trainers Kees Broekman (Dutch speed skater, 1952 Olympic silver over 5000 m and 10,000 m), Gaby Fuß and Joachim Franke . She ended her sporting career in 1996 as a long-term member of the World Cup, European Championship and World Cup participant of the German national speed skating team.

Anja Mischke now works as a federal police officer and has two children.
