Anja Thauer

Anja Thauer (* 1945 in Lübeck , † 1973 in Wiesbaden ) was a German cellist .

life and work

At the age of 14 she was accepted into the master class of Ludwig Hoelscher , at 15 she studied with André Navarra in Paris . At the age of 16 she won an international music competition in Paris.

Only two recordings with Deutsche Grammophon and some radio productions with Radio Bremen and with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR as well as the cello concerto by Eugen d'Albert with Willy Steiner and the Hanover Radio Orchestra of the NDR testify to her ability. Characteristic for their interpretations is their very emotional way of playing. The interpretation of Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto op. 104 is still considered to be groundbreaking today.

In 1964 she was awarded the Nuremberg Prize.

At the age of 28, she took her own life out of lovesickness.
