Anna Kuehne

Anna Kühne is a German doctor , researcher , epidemiologist and consultant at Doctors Without Borders . In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic , she is called in as an expert by numerous German-speaking media.

education

Kühne studied medicine at the University of Hamburg , Leipzig and Santiago de Cuba . She completed her Masters in Public Health from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. In her doctoral thesis, she examined the health and access to healthcare of paperless migrants in Germany at the University of Hamburg.

Live and act

In 2014, Kühne conducted research at the Robert Koch Institute , RKI, in the Department of Infectious Diseases to improve models and monitoring systems. During various missions, the doctor has repeatedly worked in Africa and investigated epidemics , including in Sierra Leone , Ethiopia , Nigeria and the Central African Republic . In 2014 Kühne experienced the Ebola virus outbreak in Liberia during a three-month mission for Doctors Without Borders . In 2015 she researched Ebola and infection chains in Sierra Leone on behalf of the World Health Organization , WHO. She supported the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) of the Welteundeitsoraiaion.

COVID-19 pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic , she raised awareness of the dangers of hoax, the protection of medical staff, and the need for basic health care during pandemics . Kühne warned of the devastating effects of the coronavirus on poorly prepared African health systems. As an epidemiological consultant for Doctors Without Borders, she also developed pandemic strategies with African project countries. The aim was to prepare and improve hygiene and infection protection measures in hospitals . She called for greater support from the international community for developing countries and a solidary redistribution of protective equipment.
