Anna Plothow

Anna Plothow (born February 4, 1853 in Berlin ; † December 17, 1924 there ) was a German women's rights activist , social activist and writer .

Life

Anna Schwerdt was trained in her father's glove factory and took over the management of the company for four years after his father's death.

In 1883 she married the composer Paul Plothow, who died a year later. Plothow now began to be active as a writer. She was the first woman to join the editorial team of the Berliner Tageblatt . She was also at the forefront of the women's movement , founded the day care center “Mädchenhort” and other social institutions, such as a non-profit job agency for servants in Berlin. She was a founding member of the Berliner Frauenclub eV from 1900.

Through his friendship with her, Hans Würtz got a job as a primary school teacher in the boys' school in Berlin-Tegel in 1910 .

She died of pneumonia at the age of almost 72.
