Anna Wilhelmine of Anhalt-Dessau
Anna Wilhelmine Princess of Anhalt-Dessau (born June 13, 1715 in Dessau ; † April 2, 1780 ibid) was the eighth of ten children of Prince Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau and his wife Princess Anna Luise Föhse .
As her father's favorite child, she was given the Mosigkau estate near Dessau at the age of 27. The princess, who was unmarried all her life, soon began to select an architect from the Saxon school. From 1757 she spent her summer stays in the Mosigkau Castle, which was newly built for her . She had the floor plan and the sequence of rooms planned for a purely female household, the gentlemen stayed in the pavilion buildings.
Her skill in financial matters meant that she regularly checked the accounts of her brother Prince Moritz von Anhalt-Dessau and, during his severe war injury suffered in 1759, took over the supervision of his property and his staff.
In the year of her death, she ordered the establishment of a "noble fräuleinstift" in Mosigkau Castle. The monastery existed until 1945. Since then, the castle has been accessible as a museum.
