Anna von Nesselrode

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anna von Nesselrode (*?; † 1559 ) was mistress of Stolberg and mistress of Stolberg Castle after the death of her husband Hieronymus von Efferen .

Anna von Nesselrode was the daughter of Adrian von Nesselrode zu Weiler († 1519), Drost von Schönforst, and his second wife Margaretha von Eller (Elderen) († after 1519). She was the great niece of the former Stolberg subordinate Wilhelm II von Nesselrode . Her stepsister Agnes von Nesselrode was married to the Landdrosten Werner von Binsfeld and Weiler († 1557).

Five sons came from his marriage to Hieronymus: Andreas von Efferen died in 1547 in the battle of the Mockerheide. Two other sons entered the order and became Carthusians in the Vogelsang monastery near Jülich. Wilhelm von Efferen became a Teutonic Knight and went to Livonia . He died as a burgrave of Riga . Johann von Efferen , the eldest son, was to be his mother's successor in Stolberg.

The first document she sealed dates from 1554. In it she defended Stolberg's trade rights. In another document from the following year, she gives her son Johann the mandate to take legal action against the abbot of the Reichsabbey Kornelimünster at the Reich Chamber of Commerce. He had forced the feudal man and court man Peter Schröder to accept a route through his court, since the abbot regarded the land as his property, which was not Anna's idea.

Presumably Anna von Efferen died in 1559. In that year Johann asked the Duke of Jülich to grant him the glory of Stolberg.
