Anneke Wills

Anneke Wills (born October 20, 1941 in Berkshire ) is a British actress .

life and career

Wills was raised by her mother. Her father had gambling debts and then disappeared to South Africa. Wills made her film debut in Child's Play at the age of ten . Four years later, she completed her acting training at the Arts Educational Drama School . She became internationally known through the television series Doctor Who . There she played Polly Wright, a companion of the first and second doctor . She decided to drop the series in 1967 because she wanted to take care of her two children, whom she could see little while filming Doctor Who . From 1969 to 1970, she portrayed Evelyn McLean in 16 episodes of the television series Special Assignment. In the 1970s, Wills ended her acting career to raise her children. Since the 2000s, Anneke Wills Polly has been speaking again in the Big Finish radio plays by Doctor Who .

Private life

Wills came into contact with other well-known people early on through her acting career. So fell in love with the singer and actor Anthony Newley . From this she became pregnant twice, but had the first child. Newley left Wills to have a relationship with Joan Collins . Then Wills married Michael Gough . The couple separated and Wills married two other men. Wills has a son and a daughter. Their daughter died in a car accident in 1982.
