The Dortmund-Nordost junction connects the federal highway 2 and the federal highway 236 with each other. The junction , built in the shape of a clover leaf, is located in the north of Dortmund in the area of the Derne statistical district, east of the Brechte district, in the midst of agricultural land.
The A 2 has been expanded to six lanes in the area of the junction, the B 236 is designated as a four-lane motorway .
