Sant Climent Sescebes is a Catalan municipality in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Alt Empordà .

location

Sant Climent Sescebes is located a few kilometers east of the Autopista AP-7 and is north of the municipality of Masarac , southwest of Rabós and Espolla , east of Capmany and northwest of Mollet de Peralada .

economy

The municipality is dominated by agriculture and mainly vines and olive trees are cultivated; The harvested grapes and olives are processed into wine and olive oil in the local cooperative and sold under the guaranteed Denomination of Origin Empordà . The General Álvarez de Castro military barracks are located within the town limits .

Passion play

The passion play La Passió , which has been performed by around 100 amateur actors from the village during the Semana Santa for more than 30 years, is well known beyond the region . The open-air stage is located outside of the village center and is fully integrated into the Mediterranean landscape with the naturally occurring cork oaks , olive trees and the field stones used in the design. The performance of the passion story of Jesus Christ, accompanied musically and visually by 60 technicians, lasts about an hour and a half and ends with the crucifixion scene .
