Vilajuïga is a Catalan municipality in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Alt Empordà .

location

The community lies between the Rodes and Albera mountain ranges at an altitude of 31 meters. In the middle of the village there is an access road to the Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes in the Cap de Creus Nature Park, just a few kilometers away .

economy

Viticulture is practiced in the Vilajuïga municipality. The grapes are processed in the local cooperative and marketed under the guaranteed Denomination of Origin Empordà Costa Brava . There is also a mineral water spring in town that has been used commercially since 1904 under the brand name Aigua de Vilajuïga .
