Peralada is a Catalan municipality in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain . It is located about seven kilometers northeast of Figueres , the capital of the Comarca Alt Empordà .

Attractions
The Castell de Peralada , which was built in the 14th century and was the seat of the Rocabertí family , is now a casino, and a local wine and sparkling wine brand is named after the castle. The palace ensemble includes a 33,000 square meter park that was designed by the landscape architect François Duvilliers from 1877 onwards; Since May 2011, the castle park can be visited publicly as part of a guided tour.
The Convent del Carme , a 13th century monastery that houses three museums: the Museu del Vi (Wine Museum), the Museu del Vidre (Glass Museum) and the Bliblioteca de Peralada (Library of Peralada). The latter comprises over 80,000 volumes, including a 1000 volume collection of editions of Don Quixote .
The Sant Domènec monastery-museum with a Romanesque cloister from the 12th century is located in the historic center .
