Llers is a Catalan municipality in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain . It is located about 6 kilometers northwest of Figueres , the capital of the Comarca Alt Empordà .
Despite the population of just over 1000, the area around Llers was one of the wealthiest in Catalonia in the Middle Ages, with eleven castles alone on an area of around 30 hectares. Today Llers is primarily a dormitory city for Figueres.
TP Ferro Concesionaria, SA, or TP Ferro for short, has been located in Llers since 2003 and is the installer and operator of the LGV Perpignan – Figueres , the high-speed rail line through the Pyrenees .
