The Autopista AP-7 or Autopista del Mediterráneo is part of the European route 15 . The motorway begins on the border with France at La Jonquera and ends at Vera . After a major break, a second, 96 km long section begins near Málaga and ends in Guadiaro , north of Algeciras .

Sections

The AP-7 is a toll road. Some sections (e.g. the bypass around Barcelona) are toll-free. Chargeable routes are announced before the last exit with the sign: Peaje or Peatge (toll). The toll (Spanish: Peaje, cat. Peatge) depends on the length of the route and, with a few exceptions, is due when you leave the motorway ( closed toll system ). Since 8 p.m. on December 31, 2019, no toll has been collected on the section between Tarragona and Alicante.

AP-7 and A-7

There is often confusion between the AP-7 and A-7, because both highways run along the Mediterranean coast and run parallel to each other for long stretches. While the toll AP-7 is intended for long-distance traffic, the toll-free A-7 is used for local traffic.
