San Pedro de Alcántara is a Spanish town on the Costa del Sol , which belongs to the area of the city of Marbella . It is named after the saint of the same name ( Petrus von Alcantara ) and has about 34,000 inhabitants.
history
The settlement was built in the 1860s by General Manuel Gutierrez de la Concha.
Attractions
South of San Pedro are the ruins of the Roman port city of Cilniana and nearby are the remains of the early Christian basilica Vega del Mar from the 6th century with two apses . Adults could also immerse themselves in the large baptismal font designed as a fish . Numerous graves in the area indicate that the complex was also used as a necropolis .
