Ansgar Weymann

Ansgar Weymann (born October 25, 1945 in Ahlen ) is a German sociologist who worked in the field of applied sociology in particular.

After graduating from high school in 1965 in Oldenburg , Weymann studied sociology, psychology and philosophy at the universities of Saarbrücken , Münster and Munich . In 1971 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. He then worked as a research assistant or research assistant at the University of Bielefeld and a lecturer at the University of Münster. Since 1976 he has been a professor at the University of Bremen . Until his retirement in 2011, Weymann was director of the Institute for Empirical and Applied Sociology (EMPAS) there.

Visiting professorships: 1984/85 and 1987 Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS), Wassenaar (The Hague); 1990 Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pen .; 2000–2001 German and European Chair, Munk Center for International Studies and Department of Sociology, University of Toronto; 2005 Max Weber College, Erfurt; 2009 Science Center Berlin (WZB).
