Ansotica
Ansotica was a Liburnian deity worshiped in the area around Nin and Zadar in Croatia . She represents the type of mother goddess or goddess of love and was equated with the Roman Venus .
As with almost all Illyrian deities, there is no definite meaning of the name for Ansotica. The name sounds formally Celtic , but other researchers suspect that it could also be Illyrian , both peoples were closely related (also linguistically) and tribes of both peoples lived in ancient times in the area of today's Croatia.
The Venus Ansotica was depicted according to the Mediterranean Roman- Greek model, a statue of Venus Ansotica made from Tuscan white marble has been preserved in Nin , it shows the crowned Venus clad in a toga with her son Priapus or Cupid .
