Antegrade scrotal sclerotherapy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The antegrade scrotal sclerotherapy is a surgical method to treat varicoceles .

The treatment process

The varicocele testis is obliterated by a small incision in the scrotum area . Contrast media and X-ray control have previously ensured that the venous blood will then flow in the correct direction. The procedure is performed using local anesthesia. It can also be carried out on an outpatient basis. In the case of young patients, however, inpatient admission of usually two days (one night) is recommended. This procedure was developed by Roland Tauber and, in the context of the treatment of varicoceles, is known as the “Tauber method”.
