Anthony E. Foscolos

Anthony E. Foscolos (born May 15, 1930 ) is a Greek geologist who researched clay minerals and trace elements of Greek lignite.

Foscolos studied inorganic and organic geochemistry of sediments at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry at Aristotle University from 1948 to 1953. He then served at the Ministry of Agriculture as an agronomist in the service of land reclamation. In 1960 he continued his studies at the Faculty of Soil Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and in 1964 earned his M.Sc. and in 1966 the Ph.D.

From 1966 to 1985 he was director of the Mineralogy and Mineral Geochemistry Laboratory at the Institute of Sedimentary Geology and Oil of the Geological Survey of Canada . From 1975 he was both advisor to the UNDP ( United Nations Development Program ) and adjunct professor at the Department of Geography and Archeology at the University of Calgary .

From 1985 to 1997 he was a professor at the Institute of Mineral Resources of the Technical University of Crete in Chania. He also served as a member of the Executive Committee, Vice President and, from 1995, President of the Mineral Resources Engineering Department and Senate member.
