Anthony Stephen Grabiner, Baron Grabiner QC (born March 21, 1945 ) is a British barrister , crown attorney and life peer . Lord Grabiner is Chairman of the Chamber at One Essex Court .

The son of Ralph Grabiner and Freda Cohen studied at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he graduated with a qualification as a Bachelor of Laws in 1966 and completed his master's degree a year later. He continued his education at Lincoln's Inn and was admitted to the bar a year later.

From 1976 to 1981 he was a junior attorney in the Department of Trade and the Export Credits Guarantee Department and junior crown attorney from 1978 to 1981. He was appointed crown attorney in 1981, became a bencher in 1989 and was a recorder at the Crown Court from 1990 to 1999 . Grabiner was Deputy High Court Judge from 1995 and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arcadia Group from 2002 . He served on the Board of Next plc in 2002 and on the Legal Committee of the Bank of England from 2002 to 2005 . He is a director of the Wentworth Golf Club. On July 26, 1999, he was promoted to Life Peer as Baron Grabiner , of Aldwych in the City of Westminster, and has been a member of the House of Lords ever since .

He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the London School of Economics from 1998 to 2007.

He has been married to Jane Portnoy since 1983; they have three sons and one daughter.

In October 2010 he represented Liverpool Football Club in two cases at the London High Court. These cases attracted international attention.

In July 2011, Grabiner was appointed by the News Corporation to chair the ethics committee that was formed as a result of the News International scandal . According to a report in The Lawyer , he was paid an hourly rate of £ 3,000 there.
