Anthony Kramreither
Anthony "Toni" Kramreither (born August 7, 1926 in Vienna , † February 8, 1993 in Richmond Hill (Canada) ) was an Austrian-born film producer and actor in Canada.
Life
Anton "Toni" Kramreither took acting lessons in his hometown Vienna after his military service and then played theater there (small to small roles, mostly without a permanent commitment). He stayed in Vienna until the end of August 1953 and then moved to the Salzburg State Theater for one season . Subsequently (1954) Anton Kramreither emigrated to Canada.
Since the late 1950s he found employment there in front of the camera, with his first name now anglicized to “Anthony”, initially in small roles in Canadian TV productions, including the series RCMP (1958/59) and The Forest Rangers (1963). With a rogue part in the animal film Babysitter on Four Paws , Kramreither also made his film debut at the end of 1968. In 1970 he worked alongside Joachim Fuchsberger in the ZDF adventure flick Hot Sand ; a year later he was in Michael Kehlmann's film Eyewitnesses Must Be Blind . It should remain his only work in German-language productions.
In the mid-1970s, the Toronto-based Kramreither started his career as a producer and produced a considerable number of thrillers and crime films for his own company, Brightstar Films , initially including material suitable for children such as Lions for Breakfast . With such highly speculative strips as Mondo Nude and Mondo Strip , he tried to get involved in the sex film wave in Canada (which has long since faded in Europe). He also worked as a director (under the pseudonym Anthony Kay) on some of these pseudo-documentary sex strips ( Mondo Strip ; Some Do It for Money, Some Do It for Fun ). Kramreithers output is almost consistently ambitious and artistically weak, sometimes below average, cheaply produced, but at the same time quite brisk entertainment. Kramreither last lived in Ontario.
