Anthony Spalinger

Anthony J. Spalinger is an American Egyptologist and professor in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland .

Spalinger studied at Queens College in New York City and at Yale University before he also received his doctorate from the latter. 1975–1979 and 1980–1981 he was a lecturer at Yale. Research stays took him to Hamburg , Prague , Basel , Los Angeles and Louvain-la-Neuve .

Spalinger's research focuses on ancient interstate relations in the eastern Mediterranean, in particular wars in Egypt and the Middle East as well as Egyptian astronomy.
