Antiallergic

An antiallergic is a drug that eliminates or at least relieves the symptoms of an allergic condition .

Classification

Antiallergics are classified according to the active ingredient groups and the type of application.

Active ingredient groups for ingestion

• herbal ingredients z. B. Extracts of tragacanth root (trade name: Allvent, Lectranal) (or others that are used in anthroposophic medicine )
• Mast cell stabilizers , e.g. B. cromoglicic acid , nedocromil sodium
• Antihistamines
• Organ and / or microorganism-containing preparations
• Desensitization solutions

Antiallergic drugs for topical, external use

• eye drop
• Nasal drops or sprays
• Inhalation sprays (metered aerosols )
• Creams
