Antichthon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antichthon is an annual journal published by the Australasian Society for Classical Studies .

The magazine was launched in 1967 and is dedicated to the publication of research on the ancient world in the broadest sense. Although the focus is on research contributions to the Greek and Roman world, the scope of the content is much wider and encompasses the expanded Middle East and the Mediterranean region , from the beginnings of the emergence of cultures to the early Middle Ages .

Thematically, research results and studies on ancient languages , literature , history and intellectual history as well as archeology and the historical auxiliary sciences are taken into account. Reviews are generally not part of the journal's repertoire, but systematic reviews that summarize developments and progress in certain areas of science or research are published from time to time. There are also volumes that are entirely tied to a specific topic. Scientists from all countries are invited to submit their work to the journal. The language of publication is English .

With Volume 45, published in 2011, an innovation was introduced to precede the articles with an abstract , which is also published on the website of the Australasian Society and is available there by year.

The editors are always two members of the Australasian Society , who are advised by an editorial committee of five . Editors are currently (as of January 2015) Elizabeth Minchin and Arthur Pomeroy . The international standard number for serial publications (ISSN) is: 00664474.
