Antigone (daughter of Eurytion)
Antigone ( Greek Ἀντιγόνη ) from Phthia was in Greek mythology the daughter of Eurytion , the king of Phthia .
When Peleus was exiled for killing his half-brother Phokos , he came to Eurytion and received Antigone as his wife and a third of the land. They had a daughter, Polydora . However, while hunting for the Calydonian boar , Peleus accidentally killed Eurytion with his spear. Therefore he fled a second time and came to Akastos of Iolkos . Astydameia , Akastus's wife, wanted to seduce Peleus. Since he showed no interest, however, she sent a message to Antigone, in which she stated that Peleus wanted to marry Sterope , the daughter of Akastus. When Antigone got the news, she hanged herself.
