Antigonus of Karystos (writer)
Antigonos of Karystos ( ancient Greek Ἀντίγονος ὁ Καρύστιος Antígonos ho Karýstios ) was a Greek writer of the 3rd century BC. Chr.
Antigonos came from Karystos on the island of Euboia and apparently lived temporarily in Athens. He wrote biographies of philosophers , fragments of which have been preserved by later authors ( Athenaios , Diogenes Laertios ), and works on the visual arts.
His identity with the Greek sculptor of the same name is possible, but controversial. He worked as an ore caster at the court of King Attalus I of Pergamon.
