Antinoe (daughter of Cepheus)
Antinoe ( Greek Ἀντινόη Antinoë ), also Autonoe ( Αὐτονόη Autonoë ), is a figure in Greek mythology .
According to the myth, she was a daughter of King Cepheus of Tegea . Following an oracle, she led the people of Mantinea out of their city to found a new city. A snake showed her the way. After the Greek word for snake, , φις , the river on which the new city lay was called Ophis . A monument was erected for Antinoë in Mantineia.
