Adolf Schirmer (pedagogue)

Adolf Schirmer (born December 16, 1853 in Roda ; † in the 20th century) was a German high school teacher and classical philologist .

Adolf Schirmer attended the Lyceum in Eisenberg and the grammar school in Altenburg . From 1874 he studied philology at the University of Jena . From 1877 he taught as a teacher at the Herzogliche Christians-Gymnasium in Eisenberg.

In addition to a treatise on Polyainus and an introduction for students to the anabasis of Xenophon as well as numerous articles in the detailed lexicon of Greek and Roman mythology, he mainly published on the history of Thuringia .
