Antiochus IX.
Antiochus IX. Eusebes , nicknamed Kyzikenos, was the son of Antiochus VII. Sidetes and Cleopatra Thea . After the death of his father in Parthia and the return of his uncle Demetrios II Nikator to power (129 BC), his mother sent him to Cyzicus on the Bosporus as a precaution , which led to his nickname.
116 BC He returned to Syria to claim the throne of the Seleucids from his half-brother and cousin Antiochus VIII. Grypus , with whom he probably finally agreed on a partition of Syria. He was by a son of Grypus, Seleukos VI. Epiphanes , 96 BC Killed in a battle.
