The Antlia Galaxy Cluster or Antlia Cluster is a galaxy cluster in the southern star sky . It is located in the direction of the constellation air pump , the technical name of which is named Antlia . In the Abell catalog , the galaxy cluster is recorded as Abell S0636 .

Data

The distance from our Milky Way is around 42.7  megaparsecs , that is, around 140 million light years . Among the galaxy clusters with more members, it is the third closest after the Virgo and Fornax galaxy clusters . The diameter of the cluster is 2 million light years, its radial velocity at around 2900 km / s, according to other data at 3119 ± 23 km / s.

The Antlia galaxy cluster belongs to the Hydra Centaurus supercluster .

IC 2560 is a member of the Antlia galaxy cluster

Galaxies

The Antlia galaxy cluster contains approximately 230 galaxies. Dwarf elliptical galaxies are the most common galaxy type . The brightest members are NGC 3268 and NGC 3258 . The Antlia dwarf galaxy does not belong to the Antlia galaxy cluster, but lies on the edge of the local group .
