NGC 3268 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Air Pump in the southern sky . It is an estimated 115 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 105,000 ly, and is a member of the Antlia galaxy cluster . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3267 , NGC 3269 , NGC 3271 , NGC 3273 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on April 18, 1835 .
