NGC 3244 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Air Pump in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 114 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 75,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3250 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2010ev was observed here.

The object was discovered by John Herschel on April 22, 1835 and was listed by Dreyer in the New General Catalog .
