NGC 3224 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Antlia the southern sky . It is estimated to be 128 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 70,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3223 and IC 2573 , among others .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on April 18, 1835 .
