NGC 3205 is a galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type P in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 315 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 130,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3202 and NGC 3207 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 3, 1788 .
