NGC 3217 = IC 606 is a spiral radio galaxy of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Leo at the ecliptic . It is an estimated 425 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies IC 612 , IC 613 , IC 615 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 4, 1878 by the American astronomer David Peck Todd .
